Last week I, along with my fellow DFGA students, went to the Leeds City Museum to collect some resources. We would then use these photos and drawings to help develop our characters, here is some pictures that I took/like! :D
I quite liked these African masks. Drawing faces is not my strong suit so I wanted to design a character with simple facial features. Utilising a mask could help in the developing of the my character.
This writing was part of a tablet in the Egyptian section. I really liked the masses of white writing on a solid black background and may use it in a character.
These wings were part of the special festival section of the museum, I've always liked wings on characters, these might be a bit too bright for what I am aiming for.
I really liked the look of these old suits, I really like formal and polite wear, especially when used with something that wouldn't be considered formal. I think I will develop this juxtaposition of formal and informal further when I develop some characters.
Again, I really like the look of these formal military wear. All of these articles of clothing inspire me to set my character in the past, either world war 1 era or the Victorian era.
I've always liked how ridiculously over the top the dresses were in older ages, I would love to use a character which wears something like this but with a wildly different personality to fit with it.
I liked the detail of this dragon/griffon sculpture, Mythology has always been an interesting area to take inspiration from, though I don't think I will be using this so directly.
Again, these medal suit well with the formal/military ideas I have in my head. If I use a military uniform on a character, it will probably be decorated with a fair few medals.
